Welcome To Our Website

We would like to invite you all to a special service at the Up Holland Methodist Church on Sunday25th February from 11am until 12pm to celebrate the art that will be displayed on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th February from 10am until 4pm. Please drop in to see the art created by some members of our after school art clubs.

Once we return to school following the half term break we will be celebrating Eucharist at St Thomas the Martyr Parish Church before we break for Easter. The traditional Easter Bonnet parade will take place at 9am on Monday 19th March and the annual Easter talent show will be held on Wednesday 21st March. Get auditioning for the opportunity to be selected for the show!

On Friday 23rd February our new school website will be going live. This will be followed by our new app that will make it easier to keep you all informed. Well done to our Year 4 athletes and the Year 6 Public Speakers. Thanks again for all your support, Mr Roscoe and the team. See you soon!

Head Teacher's Message - 20th December 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thanks to everybody for making this term such a tremendous success. I have been overwhelmed by all your support and goodwill as I made the transition to Head teacher. It is a joy and a privilege to work with your amazing children and our fantastic, hard working and conscientious staff at St Thomas. Our results for 2016/17 have now been published. We are over the moon and very proud of all our children (past and present).

Whole School - ACE Treat

Eight of our very special children were selected by their classmates to enjoy the ACE Treat on Monday 18th December 2017. All of the children were selected for being excellent role models in their class. They each enjoyed playing at the Fun Factory and drinking slush.
Mrs Christy and Mr Roscoe enjoyed the slides too!

Whole School - Sports Shield Winner

Congratulations to Abbie Maxfield from Year 6 who was awarded the Sports Shield for this term. Mr Corless presented the award to an amazing athlete who has shined on the football field and in the swimming pool.
Abbie plays for both our school teams and for the West Lancashire District team. She also made us all very proud when she helped our girl’s football team to win the Skelmersdale Liverpool Cup!
Watch out for Abbie on Sports Personality of the Year in the future.

Whole School - GLEE Performance

A fantastic musical performance was put on by the GLEE club! They were even joined by Zazoo from The Lion King movie.
Well done to the children and Mr Purcell.

Years 3 - Hedgehog Homes

As part of our science topic we looked at our local nature and took part in a mini project to help our nature.
We contacted the RSPB (Royal Society for Protection of Birds) and they provided us with a helpful pack full of information about what we could do. The pack was called 'Giving Nature a Home'.
We used the ideas from the pack and some of our own to improve our outside area for the local wildlife. We also researched the diet of our local wildlife.
In class we created hedgehog homes, bird feeders and frog tubs. We placed them in suitable areas outside in a hope of providing a much needed home for a hedgehog, a watery sanctuary for a frog or a toad and much needed nutrition for the birds over the winter months.
