Head Teacher's Message - 7th December 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thanks to everybody who made our school Christmas fayre such a big success. A special thank you to the members of the PTA and school staff for all their hard work leading up to it and on the afternoon of the event. We will soon be gearing up for the summer fayre. Watch this space!

Don’t forget to pop along to the Toy and Tree service, which takes place at St Thomas The Martyr Parish church at 4pm this Sunday - Sunday 10th December. We look forward to seeing as many of our families there as possible. Any gift donations will also be greatly appreciated≠with presents being donated to the Skelmersdale Food Bank to distribute.

Years 3 - Hedgehog Homes

As part of our science topic we looked at our local nature and took part in a mini project to help our nature.
We contacted the RSPB (Royal Society for Protection of Birds) and they provided us with a helpful pack full of information about what we could do. The pack was called 'Giving Nature a Home'.
We used the ideas from the pack and some of our own to improve our outside area for the local wildlife. We also researched the diet of our local wildlife.
In class we created hedgehog homes, bird feeders and frog tubs. We placed them in suitable areas outside in a hope of providing a much needed home for a hedgehog, a watery sanctuary for a frog or a toad and much needed nutrition for the birds over the winter months.

Years 6 - Dean Trust French Market

Our Year 6 children and teachers enjoyed a French morning at the Dean Trust on Thursday 14th December.
Madame Taylor and some of her pupils assisted our children in the designing of French Christmas cards for their loved ones and provided refreshments as they made purchases from the French stalls.
It was an excellent way for our children to communicate in the French language they have been learning with Madame Taylor throughout the last term.
Merci Madame Taylor!

Whole School - Pied Piper Performance

On Friday 15th December the Little Voices singers performed a spectacular concert for their families. The Pied Piper production was orchestrated by Mrs Entwistle; the writer of the music and words to this fantastic piece.
The children were amazing professionals throughout. The whole school also enjoyed the performance earlier in the week.
We are very proud of the performers, Miss Robinson, Mrs Kohler and Mrs Entwistle. Mrs Entwistle works tirelessly as a volunteer at our school and we are eternally grateful to her for this and all the support she provides our children.

Whole School - Family Festive Crafts

On Wednesday 13th December some of our families enjoyed a morning of glue sticks and glitter at our school.
The families and children who enjoyed the festive activity were rewarded with some home-made gift ideas.
The children loved the opportunity to make things with their loved ones and share a bit of the school day with them too!
Merry Christmas!

2015-16 Parent / Carer Questionnaire Feedback.....

We have been very pleased with the school and our son's progress. He has loved the variety of topics he has learnt about and has been keen to share them at home.
His teacher know shim well and it has been a pleasure to read his report.
Thank you to Miss Birmingham and her T.A.s for all her hard work.
